I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s first guest post, ‘The Oxfam Trailwalker’.
Where possible I am going to do a follow-up post on the ‘guest posts’. Therefore today I am going to look at volunteering… something I am passionate about and that I believe everyone should be involved in, in some way or another if they can.
Many of my friends and family have been involved in some kind of volunteering throughout their lives. Volunteering for the good of the community (or the good of your resume – it’s not always a bad thing, but that’s for another post) means that in some way you are helping someone else. It doesn’t matter how much or how little time you have to donate you will be helping someone out and helping make a difference to their lives; be that difference to a person, a festival, an organization, a stranger, your family or even your friends… every little bit helps!
Volunteering also often opens up a lot of new opportunities that you might not have seen before. In the past I have volunteered for organizations that have led to fantastic work opportunities and I have also volunteered for organizations on a more self-less basis. Everyone has a different reason for volunteering and regardless of what they are, as long as you are giving back to the community and helping someone else out it has to be a positive thing.
If you are interested in getting involved, here are some organisations that I would strongly recommend:
(I will be writing more on some of these organizations at a later point)
Do you volunteer? Who do you volunteer for and why do you recommend that organization? Put it in the comments below and let’s help each other get inspired and motivated to help others!
